Annual exhibit helps jump-start the careers of many CCS students
The College for Creative Studies’ Student Exhibition, one of Detroit’s largest celebrations of creativity, raised more than $160,000 for the College from ticket sales, sponsorships and other contributions and is helping jump-start the careers of many CCS students.
More than 2,700 people attended this year’s Opening Night, which was sponsored by many generous companies, restaurants and individuals including Lear Corporation, who acted as this year's lead sponsor.
On opening night, 156 students sold $64,500 of artwork and a total of $79,653 during the run of the show, with all the money going directly to these up-and-coming artists to help start their careers.
During the popular two-week installation, held May 17-31, the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education was transformed into a huge gallery displaying more than 3,500 student works of art. Ceramics, furniture, hand-blown glass, jewelry, paintings, photographs, illustrations and sculpture were just some of the exceptional pieces in the exhibit that the public was invited to view and purchase.
The College for Creative Studies has hosted the Student Exhibition, the College’s annual end-of-the-academic-year celebration, for the past 88 years.
