Join us for the premiere of "Helvetica," a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture, Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. The screening, sponsored by AIGA Detroit and CCS' Graphic Design Department, costs $5 at the door and will be held in the Walter B Ford II Building's Wendell W Anderson Auditorium. The film looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which celebrates its 50th birthday this year) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces and the type that inhabits them. Included are discussions with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type. Due to the popularity of Helvetica, seating cannot be guaranteed, but will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. To reserve a seat, send an email before September 5 to
gro.agia.tiorted@pvsr, with the subject line: "RSVP - CCS Helvetica," be sure to include the names of the attendees.
