College for Creative Studies students Jason Manns and Ellen Wareham received a gold ADDY and Best of Show Award at the American Advertising Awards for their work for the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills.
Conducted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the Student American Advertising Awards Competition is a unique national awards program designed specifically for college students. The selection process for national winners entails three parts. Candidates join the running by submitting their work to local Ad Club competitions. Those standouts advance to 15 district competitions wherein clubs compete against one another. Finally, district winners make it to the national American Advertising Awards. Here, judges bestow the Best of Show, gold ADDY Award to the best entry and silver ADDY Awards to all those entrants worthy of recognition.
Manns and Wareham’s work was a poignant mass transit advertisement that transformed a city bus into an old-fashioned train akin to the kind that dropped prisoners at Auschwitz with the chilling text "Imagine not knowing your final stop” on its side.
Manns and Wareham competed against students from 47 colleges and universities across the country and CCS is very proud of their accomplishment.
