Mark Zapico, chair, accompanied 15 Advertising Design students on a trip to Boston during midterm break to meet with creatives and executives from advertising agencies Hill Holiday, Modernista!, Holland-Mark, and Mullen. By touring these agencies, the students acquired important career planning information and connections. Firsthand observation of agency culture and process along with the chance to ask questions about agency expectations for new hires were unique opportunities for the future art directors. The students also had access to the Boston Design Center (BDC) for a day where they were free to investigate its 87 individually-owned showrooms for creative inspiration. Described by Boston Magazine as an â??eight-story design mecca,â? the BDC is New Englandâ??s ultimate destination for the design industry.
