This is the second time in as many months that the CCS senior has been recognized for her stunning, multi-material designs. Pearce, along with alumni Bridget Sullivan (’12 Crafts) and Deanna Zapico (’85 Advertising Design), was among 10 finalists in the “Beyond the Armor” competition, sponsored in partnership by the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and the Detroit Garment Group. The competition challenged local designers to create a complete outfit based on artworks in the DIA’s Samurai: Beyond the Sword exhibition.
Pearce, who said she wanted to create “wearable sculpture,” created a garment for a mythological goddess of war that featured a tooled leather and metalwork bodice and hand-painted skirt panels.
That garment also appears in the StyleLine feature, along with Pearce’s, along with designs by Sullivan and Zapico.
Metro Detroit’s largest magazine, StyleLine features the best in beauty, fashion and home. Read the feature online here.
