MFA Workshop with Dr. Josef Gründler, FH JOANNEUM

DrJosephGrundlerCCS Graduate Studies continues to explore collaborative opportunities with industry and educational partners internationally. On March 5, 2014, Professor Dr. Josef Gründler from FH JOANNEUM (University of Applied Sciences, Graz, Austria) conducted a workshop with the MFA Interdisciplinary Design students at CCS. Dr. Gründler heads the master degree programme in communication, media, sound and interaction design at JOANNEUM and holds a PhD in medicine. He is a member of the Board of Directors at the Institute for Media Archeology and is President of the Society for Dissemination and Distribution of New Music. He defines himself as a sound-media artist and a "tinkerer" of software and electronics.

In the combined lecture and workshop - "The Interface of Things" - Professor Gründler demonstrated how to break down real-world interactions to develop user experience scenarios of the future. Utilizing MAX/MSP software, students focused on the theme of 'mobility of tomorrow' and quickly developed proof of concepts for discussion. Through their concepts, they explored the social, cultural and economic impact of technology on everyday lives.
