Fantasy vs. Reality: A TravelArt Talk with Tyanna Buie
Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
Wendell W. Anderson Jr. Auditorium, Walter B. Ford II Building, Walter & Josephine Ford Campus at CCS
Tyanna Buie takes us on a journey from New Orleans to Paris, with stops in between, examining the facts and fictions inherent in exploring new cities. Buie, Assistant Professor and Section Chair of Printmaking in the CCS Fine Arts Department, merges teaching with her artist practice by hosting printmaking workshops and demonstrations throughout the country, as well as participating in community-based art projects in under-served neighborhoods. Buie is a recipient of the prestigious Joan Mitchell Painters & Sculptors Grant, and her work has been acquired by major institutions and private collections nationally. Buie will have a solo exhibition in CCS’s Center Galleries opening January 26, 2018.
All lectures are held in the Wendell W. Anderson Jr. Auditorium, inside the Walter B. Ford II Building on the CCS campus. Lectures are free and open to the public.
