Marshall McLuhan and the Arts
Opening Reception: Friday, February 15, 6-8pm
February 16 – March 23, 2019
An exhibition that reconsiders the importance of media theorist McLuhan’s work in the digital age.
One of the most charismatic, controversial and original thinkers of our time whose remarkable perception propelled him onto the international stage, Marshall McLuhan is universally regarded as the father of communications and media studies and prophet of the information age. “Feedback #4: Marshall McLuhan and the Arts” is a recursive project with a focus on his radical, experimental publications including archival materials from McLuhan’s publishing practice, as well as current artistic interpretations of social cybernetics and video installations. His work continues to play a pivotal role in our understanding of the technological age, in fact, never before or since has a scholar of communication played such a public role in our understanding of technological change well into the 21st century.
