Carolyn is currently the Program Manager of the Liberal Arts and Art Education Departments. After graduating from CCS (with honors) with a BFA in Graphic Communication, she worked at an advertising agency as an art director creating campaigns for GMC Truck, Lincoln, and Visteon. She became a freelance artist and then stepped into the world of teaching art at a K-8 Montessori school while at the same time, completing her K-12 Visual Arts Teacher Certification at CCS where she received the Imre J. Molnar Artistic Excellence Award. In 2017 she accepted the position of Program Manager in the Art Education and Liberal Arts Departments. She is also the Certification Officer and Student Teaching Placement Coordinator for CCS students completing their Michigan K-12 Visual Arts teaching certificate. She is currently the instructor for DAE520: Professional Seminar which provides candidates who are doing their Directed Teaching with further professional development and experiences that develop reflective practice. The seminar conveys a range of information essential to Visual Arts educators, including health and safety issues in Art Education, technology integration, educational law, effective teaching practices, research in the field, fundraising, and community outreach.
