An Interdisciplinary Artist and Design Researcher, Cristin Richard is particularly interested in the societal factors that influence our fashions, attitudes and lifestyle shifts.

Professional Experience

After interning at Lear Corporation, where she maintained the Materials Library, Cristin’s career began at Nissan Design America as a Color and Materials Designer. She held a similar position at General Motors Corporation, and later developed color strategies for Ultrafabrics Inc. Her extensive travels to major design fairs ignited her passion for trend research. She now runs an atelier based in Detroit which specializes in identifying and analyzing art, fashion and design trends, while defining future style and design language – form, colors, materials and surface treatments.

In her parallel practice as an Interdisciplinary Artist, installation and performance hold an essential place. Utilizing a fashion narrative, the majority of her work explores the human condition. She attended residency programs in Paris, France and Reykjavik, Iceland. Most recently, her work was included in the Spielzeug Welten Museum of Basel, Switzerland and her latest performance installation was exhibited at The Detroit Club.
