Geiger’s studio practice is influenced by both natural and mediated landscapes. With the resulting product intended to serve both literally as a personal marker and figuratively as prompting for our experience with nature and place.
Professional Experience
Jon P. Geiger has severed as an educator within the ceramics field since 2015 and began teaching at the College for Creative Studies in 2018. In 2013 he spent time working as a ceramic technician for the European Ceramic Work Center in the Netherlands and where he assisted a variety of professional artists. In addition to teaching, Geiger is the Head Preparator and Exhibition Coordinator for the Cranbrook Art Museum.
Geiger has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows including No Empty Vessel (Gildar Gallery, Denver, CO), A Durable Canon (Good Weather Little Rock, AR), and A Place to Rest the Head (Holding House, Detroit, MI), and Barometer (Interface Gallery, Oakland, CA). Geiger’s work can be found in the permanent collections of the Cranbrook Art Museum (Bloomfield Hills, MI and New Mexico State University (Las Crusces, NM).
