Harty’s work investigates the connection between craft and technology through sculpture, installation, video, and performance. She is heavily informed by her training as a glass blower, and draws on her personal history as a craftsperson to explore how kinetic knowledge can be tracked, embodied, and performed.

Professional Experience

Harty has exhibited in galleries and museums across the country including the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the Corning Museum of Glass. Her writing has been published in Glass Quarterly, GASnews, and various museum catalogs. Harty has taught at the School of the Art Institute Chicago, Ox-bow Art School and Penland School of Crafts, in addition to her current position as Assistant Professor of Glass at the College for Creative Studies.
