Professional Experience

PJ Chen is an adjunct faculty at College for Creative Studies, a freelance Jewelry Designer and an Authorized Rhino3D Trainer.

She had taught both Jewelry and Industrial Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design for 11 years. Chen’s multidisciplinary education, and international culture and experience, has created the opportunity for collaborative work within both industrial design and metals/jewelry. This unique background has allowed her to work on sponsored studio projects with large professional companies such as Michael Kors, Remington, Fossil, and The Limited.

Chen had served in both academic and professional capacities as an exhibition coordinator, mentor and trainer of advanced technologies. Her teaching includes experience in integrated technologies as applied to industrial design and jewelry. She maintains a connection to the jewelry profession by working with local jewelers, retail establishments and by maintaining her own business, PJ Chen Studio. Chen’s professional research has expanded her expertise on the multifaceted issues facing contemporary collaboration with industrial sponsors as well as a continued personal interest in wearable technology. Her theoretical foundation promotes her interest in linking technological advancements and traditional craft as a viable direction for body adornment in the future.
