Professional Experience

Sung Paik joined GM Design in 1986. He has designed, managed and contributed to numerous vehicle design programs, such as GM Global/North America advanced concept and production vehicles for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn. Internationally, he has worked on global design projects with Opel, Germany and GM Daewoo Design, Korea.

Paik is also involved in the GM Industrial Design, where he designed 2018 Detroit Grand Prix Trophy, Gala Event Centerpiece and 2010 GM Supplier of the Year Award. Paik led the redesign of Disney World, Epcot Test Track presented by Chevrolet, a design collaboration of GM and Walt Disney Imagineering. Concept direction for NAIAS Buick, Cadillac and GMC exhibit. Recently, designed Little Caesars Arena Chevrolet Entrance Display, Chevrolet Plaza and GMD HydroTec/Fuel Cell AUSA exhibit. Moreover, GM published and displayed Paik’s highly recognized conceptual artworks on GM, which includes Motorsports future vision and HydroTec autonomous concept, Shanghai Expo 2010, Shanghai new Asia Headquarter, illustrations for special corporate media events and the GMNA Board Rm mural artwork. In addition, he had a solo art exhibit “Lost Art Recaptured” at the GM Design Gallery.

Born in Seoul, Korea and raised in New York City, Paik attended H.S. of Art and Design-formally the School of Industrial Art in Manhattan. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cooper Union and holds a Masters in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute.
