A career rooted in photojournalism, Valicenti’s personal work centers on documentary projects that examine the nuances of societal issues, concerns and ironies.

Professional Experience

William Valicenti’s images have supported a wide variety of industry segments, from financial services, major national retail catalogers to extreme sport product markets. Collaborating both in studio and on location with the design industry’s top art directors and Fortune 500 marketers’, his work has received international acclaim, most notably with eight PDN Annual Awards and three Black Book Annual Report 100 honors.

Significant Publications, Presentations and Exhibitions

“Displacing Delray”, a year-long chronicle of the last residents forced to leave Delray, a historic and once thriving enclave in Detroit’s southwest side, making way for an international bridge. Published 2017.
“Red, White and Blue”, documents the nation’s opioid crisis, at it’s epicenter – Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia. Published 2018.
“Huntingdin”, street scenes that document and contextualize contemporaneous police scanner recordings from Huntington WV, an American community where approximately ten percent of it’s residents are addicted to pills, meth or heroin. Published 2018.
Works added to the permanent collection of the Ryerson & Burnham Libraries at the Art Institute of Chicago. Projects for Gilbert and Fox Paper 1988-2008, lead by Chicago designer and 2012 recipient of the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Award Rick Valicenti.
