About National Portfolio Days
National Portfolio Days are educational events for young artists held at host colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada. Portfolio days bring together students and experienced college representatives who view art work, offer critique, discuss college plans, and share Information about their school. These events are not an examination or a competition. The art and design college representatives are Interested In your development, look forward to reviewing your work, and will provide you with helpful information for this next important step in your development as an artist.
What should I bring the National Portfolio Day? Your portfolio can include finished pieces, work in progress and sketchbooks. We ask you to bring your original artwork whenever possible. We suggest that you not spend time and money matting or framing your work. Keep your presentation simple; the artwork itself is what is of interest. If you bring digital images of work that is too large or fragile to carry, or of work that is time-based, such as video, animation, or performance, it is your responsibility to ensure that the work can be viewed. We recommend you bring a device that has a screen no smaller than 5×7″ to show your work on; phone screens are too small. Be advised that you will not have access to an electric outlet.
